Chartered by local
Rotary clubs Rotaract clubs are organised to be self-governed and
self-sufficient, able to raise funds for the various community
service projects the club undertakes. Even so Rotaract clubs are
answerable to their sponsoring Rotary club and must uphold the
principles of Rotary in order to maintain their charter.
Rotaract clubs are
governed by a Board of Directors, led by the Club President which
takes office at the beginning of the Rotaract year on July 1st. In
addition to the President the Board consist of the Immediate Past
President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and additional
officers as deemed necessary by the President and the Club. This
usually includes the Directors of the various Club Committees and
may also include an Assistant Secretary / Treasurer, Public
Relations Officer, and Sergeant-At-Arms.
The Board meets at least
once a month to conduct the business of the club and reports on all
decisions taken and policies adopted to the general membership at
the soonest opportunity. Officers of the Board
of Directors are nominated and elected from among members in good standing by the general membership prior to March 1st
and take office on July 1st.
